Special events in 2026
This is a big year for Pokémon fans in Chicago! See below for special non-Play! Pokémon events that are taking place throughout the year.
Pokémon Fossil Museum

The Field Museum in Chicago and The Pokémon Company International have teamed up to present the Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibit’s international debut! The exhibit opens on May 22, 2026, and runs through April 11, 2027.
Tickets through September 7th are currently available for purchase by Field Museum members. If you are interested in becoming a member, you can join on the Field Museum website – if joining prior to April 30th, use promo code SPRING70 for two extra months free, which will keep you a member through the full duration of the exhibit.
General availability for tickets will open on March 3rd at 12pm US Central time on the Field Museum’s website. This will also be limited to tickets through September 7th – later dates will become available in the future. Do note that the Pokémon Fossil Museum is an additional cost to museum entry.
Pokémon GO Fest

Chicago will host Pokémon GO Fest 2026 from June 5 to June 7 in Grant Park! Early bird tickets go on sale on March 3, with general admission tickets going on sale March 31 or earlier, according to the official Pokémon GO website. Tickets will be available for purchase through Niantic Live Events Ticketing.
There are two base ticket types, as well as various add-ons. We’ve summarized the two ticket types below, as well as included official infographic summaries – see the official Pokémon GO website for more details and for information about add-ons!
Park and City Trainer Tickets
These tickets include a morning or afternoon session in Grant Park (choose at ticket purchase), with Citywide Gameplay for the rest of the day. These will likely go fast!
City Explorer Tickets
These tickets include Citywide Gameplay for the chosen date – while park gameplay will not be included, the tickets will be much more accessible (historically they do not sell out).
